Why walk-ins matter

Almost every flooring showroom in the Valley works by appointment. There's a reason for it — appointments filter out browsers and guarantee a salesperson is free — and there's a cost: you can't drop in on a Tuesday lunchtime to check whether the oak you liked online is actually the right colour.

We'd rather you could. Come in, look, leave. Nobody will follow you around the room.

What's actually on the wall

Over a thousand samples, and the range covers the four decisions that matter: construction (engineered and solid), width (strip through to wide plank), texture (smooth, wire-brushed, hand-scraped, distressed) and finish (matte oil through to satin polyurethane, with the full range of sheen levels).

The heart of it is French oak — European oak in wide plank, mostly wire-brushed, which is what we sell more of than anything else. Around it sit the makers we represent in Arizona, from smooth select grades to heavily aged character floors. Or we bring the showroom to you

Plenty of clients never come in at all, and that's fine. It starts with a phone call where we ask what you're after: which rooms, what's on the floor now, what species and colour and texture you're drawn to, when you'd like the work done, and whether you can email photos of the rooms and the furniture in them.

Then one of us arrives at your house with hand-picked samples chosen against that brief — not a random case of whatever's in the van. While we're there we take accurate field measurements and inspect the subfloor for the things that decide the price: slab preparation, transitions to tile or carpet, baseboard condition.

The point is that you don't spend three Saturdays driving between flooring stores hoping to stumble on what you want. We know the manufacturers and the products; we do the searching.

What a visit is actually like

   We listen first

   What the room is for, what's going wrong with the floor you have, what you've already seen and disliked. It's a much shorter route to the right board than starting at the sample wall.

   We narrow it down

   A thousand samples is too many. Half an hour of conversation usually gets it to five or six, and those are the ones you take home.

   You go away and think

   No deposit, no deadline. Clients have taken months over this decision and we're still glad they came.

Rafal met us at his shop and showed us all kinds of samples. He let us take home several samples and even came for a home visit so that he could tell us what he thought would look best.
